2024 AgriFood Futures Scholarship
Apply before August 31, 2024 if you're a student at the University of Lethbridge, Lethbridge Polytechnic, or Red Crow college planning on pursuing a career in agrifood.
The SouthGrow Regional Initiative is delighted to announce the opening of applications for the AgriFood Futures Scholarship Program in partnership with MNP LLP, and Community Futures Lethbridge Region. This annual scholarship program aims to support deserving local youth pursuing a career in the agrifood industry in southern Alberta. We are proud to offer three scholarships, to outstanding students attending Lethbridge Polytechnic, the University of Lethbridge, and Red Crow College.
The AgriFood Futures Scholarships were created by the Board of Directors of the Southgrow Regional Initiative in 2019 to support local youth who want to pursue a career in the agri-food industry in southern Alberta. Southgrow is a regional economic development alliance of 29 communities in the south-central Alberta which is dedicated to opening new economic opportunities for regional and supporting the continued quality of life enjoyed by our citizens. This year we are excited to be partnering with MLP LLP, D-Com Energy Solutions, and Community Futures Lethbridge Region to offer 3 scholarships in the amount of $2,500 to eligible students attending each of our 3 post secondary institutions.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be considered for an AgriFood Futures Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Citizenship: Be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, or Protected Person (visa students are not eligible).
Residency: Be a permanent resident of one of the 29 SouthGrow communities.
Enrollment: Be enrolled in full-time studies at either the University of Lethbridge, Lethbridge College, or Red Crow College for the upcoming year in either an undergraduate or graduate program.
Industry Commitment: Have a genuine intention to utilize your education to work in the Agri-food industry in Southern Alberta upon graduation.
Application Process:
To apply for an AgriFood Futures Scholarship, interested students must submit the following documents:
Letter of Intent: A well-written letter expressing your career goals, highlighting your passion for the agri-food industry, and outlining how you intend to use your education to contribute to the growth and development of the industry in southern Alberta.
References: Two references from individuals who can speak to your character, work ethic, and potential to excel in the agri-food industry.
Transcripts: Official or unofficial transcripts demonstrating your academic performance and commitment to your studies.
Submission Instructions:
All application materials must be submitted electronically by August 31, 2024 to peter. casurella@southgrow.com. Please ensure that your application includes the required documents: letter of intent, references, and transcripts.
Scholarship recipients will be selected based on a comprehensive evaluation of their application materials.
We encourage all eligible students enrolled in agriculture or ag-tech programs at Lethbridge Polytechnic, the University of Lethbridge, or Red Crow College to apply for the AgriFood Futures Scholarship Program.
