SouthGrow to deliver Agriculture Extension Program

SouthGrow Regional Initiative is looking for proposals for an “On Farm Energy Management” Outreach Officer.  This contracted person will be responsible for presentations, consultations, and other extension work to promote On Farm Energy Management techniques.  He/She will also be expected to acquire a working knowledge of the Growing Forward 2 programs as available through Alberta Agriculture and Forestry.  The successful candidate will travel extensively in Southern Alberta setting up and making presentations on energy savings ideas and equipment for the farm.  This program will be delivered in up to 25 Counties and Municipal Districts from Lacombe to Cardston and in between.  Other duties will include meetings with prospective applicants to outline energy saving measures, advise of programs available, preparation and dissemination of news bulletins, and updating social media feeds.  As this is an outreach position only, there is no expectation that the candidate will assist with writing proposals or will he/she be participating in decisions regarding the approval of any Growing Forward 2 programs.

We are looking for a person with a strong agricultural/energy background, preferably a graduate of an agrology program.  Applicants with a strong knowledge and background in energy management especially as it relates to farm/small business operations, will also be considered.

This position is open for 12-14 months and we wish to fill it immediately.  Please include a resume of your skills and education along with expected remuneration.  Out of pocket travel expenses while on extension business will be reimbursed by SouthGrow.  Applications will be accepted until February 6, 2017 by email to:
